It’s almost impossible to get a photo in Tokyo without wires, so I learned to embrace them. These are so-called “love hotels.” The characters beside the pink 2,000 yen ($18) mean “short time,” according to google translate. I love the candy colours and especially the contrast with the black and white look of the rest of the image.

I was so lucky to find these adolescent pelicans playing by the Carseland Weir during a glamping night with my daughter. There were seven of them and about 30 adults sunning on the rocks across the river.
