2026-03-17 Reflections

With all the melting going on and puddles everywhere (Spring is around the corner – March 20 is the official start), I thought reflections would be a good subject for our two week challenge. If you can’t find a puddle, any type of reflection is OK.

Reflections along the boards and a reflection in the ice from the skaters help frame the action.

I’ve never noticed the ice was so shiny! Great action and good positioning to capture the viewers

Beautiful reflection della. I love the floating pieces of ice giving a sense of perspective and depth.

Enjoyed a quick walk around Inglewood. Not too many birds yet and there is still ice on the water. This goose was just standing there blending in to the reflections. Settings: AP, FL300, F6.3, S 1/250, ISO 250, WB Auto, Spot Metering.

Columbia River and adjacent wetlands this morning.
The two different reflected colors is pretty cool.
    Shot with just my phone
….have started trying a Canon, but it’s a learning curve lol

Beautiful landscape Brent. Love the different sky reflections on the river and lake. The low clouds and the ridge of higher mountains peeking above adds to the ambience of the scene.

Saw this reflection while I was making lunch, the bachsplash in the kitchen.

Early on in the week before the snow, reasonable weather saw this sort of reflection on an old boat. It has fins like an old 58 plymouth. I call it “I am watching you.”

This maybe a stretch for spring reflections! I was trying out my new 400 lens on my evening walk and found this suspended snow and ice on some bent grass. There may be a reflection if you look closely. This was F7.1, 1/1250 (there was bit of wind) and ISO 400.

  18. Debbie McCluskey says:

Which do you like better, color or black and white?

While on a visit to Tsawwassen BC captured this Blue Heron gliding in for a landing,
Fuji XT-5 handheld on 6th floor balcony looking down towards a tidal creek below when the bird flew inot my frame.

    • Henri says:

Wow, love this image Joe. The shadow/reflection just separated from the bird. Beautiful symmetry! Love the colours of the bird, almost like a japanese watercolour painting.

Reflection in mirror of photo hanging on the wall in my basement. No data available as I shot the photo with my first “real” camera (Canon TL) in late 1980 early 1981 of Lidia (spouse) and our first-born daughter.

This was quite subtle with a slight ripple in the water and overcast sky – very painting like IMO
