Photo from June 2013 after the flood that overcame a lot of Chinatown. Fits this week’s challenge. This is from a photobook I had made called Colour Photos that Look Black and White. Empty lot at Riverfront Avenue and 1st St SE.

Realy like the ghostly quality of the chain links covered in mud. The cracks in the mud add to the mood.
Empty Calgary Food Bank crates waiting for pickup at Forest Lawn Community Hall. I am guessing this is the source for some of the food for lunch program provided to kids from the schools across the road.

The red crate really pops. Nicely located in the 1/3 intersection.
I like the contrast of the graffiti against the more or less uniform lush green foliage. The early morning sun adds to the mood.
This image gives me a strong feeling of urban decay. The whole image is filled with ugly industrial grating and angry graffiti.

You can’t go to Copenhagen without stopping by to say hello to this beautiful sculpture. On out way to the airport from the ship, we asked the taxi driver to stop by the mermaid. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, this small but significant sculpture has become a beloved symbol of the city and a must-see landmark for any visitor exploring the Danish capital.
Shot in the conservatory at the Calgary Zoo, this Blue Morpho butterfly posed perfectly on a sign warning not to touch the butterflies. ISO 640, 71mm, f/6.3, 1/400s.
Well spotted, Brian. Gotta love a funny photo!
