Attended the annual Balloon Glow in High River last night (Sept 26) along with at least 20K other people. After the balloons are up, the barriers are taken down and people can walk around them. It is pretty exciting with all of the food trucks, families and music. Watching others take pictures was a lesson in technology! Probably no more that 10 actual cameras but thousands of cell phones! Settings: FL 18mm, S 1/15, F 3.5, ISO 1250, Auto WB, Matrix Metering. Cropped.

I went to Prince’s Island to look for fall colours in late September but there were just a few leaves on the ground. A hint of red, yellow and green in the foreground. The lagoon was more mud than water with lots of seagull and goose activity. Both species are spreading their wings in this shot.
    ISO 400, 300 mm, f/14, 1/1250 s

Ravens playing. Passing some piece of white material in flight, showing off and doing aerobatics.

Late blooming thistle taken with a 70 – 300 mm zoom. I like the shallow depth of field this lens gives me. Griffith Woods has many opportunities for high contrast images when sunlight selectively hits subjects in an otherwise mostly shaded forest.

I’ve only had an opportunity to download my pictures from the Great Bear Rainforest. Haven’t had a chance to do any editing.

The two pictures are of a handsome 4 year old male named Taalya which means High Bush Cranberry.

    This was taken at 1/500, 5.6, 6400

  8. Sue says:

There are between 350 to 500 spirit bears and we were fortunate enough to see them every day.

    This was taken at 1/500, 5.6, 5000

  9. Beth A Hetherington says:

One of my favourite fall pictures, have posted it before. My granddaughter jumping in the leaves. Taken with an i phone 19 3.99 mm, f1/8, 1/250 sec, ISO 20

  10. Brian says:

Tried for a balance between the sunburst and the yellow splash in this one, and loved the silhouette of the tree. ISO4000, 35mm, f/11, 1/1000 sec.

  11. Brian says:

Dramatic veining in this leaf with the strong backlight; didn’t notice the sun-kissed cobweb until post processing. ISO 4000, 115 mm, f/11, 1/1000 sec.

  12. Grant Banbury says:

McDougall Church, west of Cochrane on 1A highway. 55 mm, F7 @1/80 sec, iso 100.
Replaced the sky, and increased saturation of grasses, with On1. First time using sky replacement and seamed to work fairly well.

  13. Nick says:

Coexistence. Was shooting race at Fish Creek when I saw this and took a quick shot before I lost one of the residnets
    f/6.3; 1/640 sec; iso 100
