Bighorn sheep in Radium….
They are chill after rutting season, so I can get quite close
Henri had a great suggestion to crop to a square photo, and lighten up the ram’s chest on the left. Will attach the result fyi….it looks to be a superior pic indeed 🙌
Looks fantastic Brent.

Light & Dark
Light same set-up as in photo in main section – bright window
Dark in Mtl church. Used Lightroom masking tool to darken backround
I have an on-going church portfolio project going. I particularly focus on churches built in the Brutalist Architecture style. The style was popular from approximately the 50’s to the 70’s. Churches built in the 60’s appear to have been built in tis style. Too many of these churches were prone to be quite dark inside (see St Luke in Calgary prior to its renovation). The flying wing church in the photo is my parish church when I lived in Montreal and I saw it being built. Contrary to the typical it is quite bright and airy inside
An immature prairie falcon lifts off from a perch on a high bluff above the Salt river, a short distance north of Mesa, Arizona. ISO1250 600mm f/8 1/5000sec.
Female hooded merganser. ISO5600 600mm f6.3 1/2000sec.
Another exceptional painting from the Erik Olson Exhibit that has incredible texture and vivid earth tone colours that particularly captures the intensity of the wolf’s eyes.
This picture of a water lily that I took at a Japanese Garden near Boca Raton in Florida last January shows the brightness and colours as well as the water droplets on the lily against the dark out of focus background of the pond on a cloudy day. ISO 200, 238 mm f5.6 1/200s
This was taken early morning when the light, frost and blue jay were in the right time and place. This was taken with my 300 lens, did use Program setting as I didn’t want to lose the image. F5.6 1/320 sec ISO. Used Lightroom to lighten the bird and crop.
Rocky Mountain Goat at the Calgary Zoo.
The lack of snow on the weekend meant there were sharp contrasts between the subjet abd the background.
Tried for a similar contrast with the Snowy Owl.
