From our Nosehill walk today. Taken with my smartphone camera in pro mode with exposure at -2. Then enhanced in Photoshop with exposure push and contrast enhancement. The colours sure are vibrant, maybe a bit too much.
Here is the setting of the detail above.
Beakerhead at Contemporary Calgary. A new roller rink is opening in town soon so they were renting skates at the gallery for free. Here’s a panning attempt with my new tiny Ricoh GRIIIx. It has a fixed 26 mm lens (41 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length) that retracts when shut off so it fits in my pocket. (Not for Frank Lake!)
24 MP. It weighs 260 g compared to my Canon 18-400 mm zoom’s 1.4 kg, which is increasingly hurting my arthritic hand. I can shoot with one hand! No viewfinder is the main thing I’ve had to get used to.
ISO 640, 26 mm, f/2.8, 1/8 sec
iPhone shot to show what it looks like when not panning.
I like the blurry sense of motion. Interesting colours, at just the right shutter speed.
Yellow rumped warbler at Mallard 400mm f7.1 1/160 point
Beautiful composition Della. Great depth of field control and background.
Wilson’ warbler at Stow lake ISO 3201/200 f4.5 72mm
View from Silver Springs Ridge towards Broadcast Hill. Taken with my smartphone. The morning sun just lit the foreground contrasting it against the darker background. The valley channels the eye towards the distant background, while the fence detail is an anchor point for the leading line of the orange foliage.
Looking SW from the western end of North Glenmore Park. The low water levels on the Elbow River produced some interesting curves.
Aperture Priority, f/8.0, ISO 100, 1/320 sec, 24mm.
Cropped to 16×9 format. Used levels and saturation to bring up the yellow and red colours. Used haze removal to enhance the sky.
I drive the 22 highway a fair bit and colors in the fall are always stunning. But this one taken a couple years ago is one of my favourites
f/7.1, 1/800, iso200, 195mm
Manul kitten chasing a butterfly in the eastern steppes of Mongolia.
Nice action shot.
Should have provided some additional details. This was taken with a 600 mm lens from behind a blind as the kittens are quite shy. This was taken at 1/800, F 6.3, and ISO 6400.
The next kitten picture was taken at 1/500, F 8, ISO 800.
These kittens are about 3 months old and are also called Pallas Cats.
The Manul kittens are very shy and take considerable time to come out to play.
One more fall colour photo. I took this on Friday before the rains came. It is one of my favourite views. Looking west from the western part of Fish Creek Park.
f/11, 1/200 sec, ISO 100, 149 mm
I went to Prince’s Island lagoon to capture fall colour reflections. I bumped up the yellow a bit in Apple Photos, but did not have to touch the brilliant green moss along the shore on the downtown side of the lagoon.
ISO 100, 26 mm, f/2.8, 1/500
Yet another fall photo – larches at Arnica lake
f/16, 1/800, iso1400
Yellow elms complemented by the blue sky background. ISO 100, f/16, 1/60.
Manipulated fall photo using the Curves tool in Apple Photos. Taken with iPhone, ISO 25, f/2.2, 1/7692???
