Here are some cropping variations on a squirrel photo I took recently.
Looking “from below”
Thinking about “framing”. This image was sharpened a bit in Photoshop.
taken at the zoo last week
ISO 2200 f5.6 240mm 1/4000
Very nicely composed Della. My images of the goat alwasy seem to have the rock face background.
after the lion dance
ISO 3200 f7.1 85mm 1/200
In September 2023 we travelled to the Great Bear Rainforest. Yes we captured some great images and a number of bears (but no spirit bear).
But my favourite and most dramatic images were late afternoon shots of a group of humpback whales feeding and cruising near the shore.
Captured with my Fuji XT-5 on tripod shot from our catamaran tour ship.
ISO 1000(+1 click EV)/ F8/ SS@1/640 second
Great image, Joe.
A reindeer, also captured in the zoo. Again paying special attention to the background, avoiding fencing and other distractions. 1/1250 sec, f/8, ISO 1600
Took this picture last year while touring the Banff/Jasper parkway. It was spring and was out feeding after its winter hibernation. It is one of my favourite bear pictures. The picture has been cropped but that is all. Settings are F5.6, 1/125, ISO 500.
Gorilla portrait from a pre-Christmas visit to the zoo. ISO 100, f/5.6, 1/250.
Great shot Ron, I love the implied expression. Nice use of Depth of Field.
I like the abstract quality of this penguin synchronized grooming shot. ISO 160, f/5.6, 1/125. Both of the above images taken with 300 mm zoom and sharpened in GIMP.
On my trip to Norway and Svalbard, we sailed to the polar ice cap. A polar bear walked several miles over ice flows to look at our ship.
Taken from the ship with a 250 lens.
Same bear, ready for a nap.
Hello all, I am new to the group. This is just taken with my Samsung A54 phone, Beaver flats, Elbow Falls park, somewhat into the sun on the right, tweaked slightly with simple google tools for saturation and pop. Taken a few weeks back while out on a walk.
One of our migratories down in PV – a Cinnamon Hummingbird.
Taken on my morning walk last week
f/3.1, 1/250, iso100
neighborhood wild life…
f/3.1, 1/640, iso100
Didn’t have time to get out to take winter pictures so here is one from my Africa trip.
Taken with my 100-400 lens at f/14, 1/125 sec, ISO 500.
Here is one of the more unusual birds in Tanzania. Enjoyed watching them strut around. Taken with my 100-400 lens at f/14, 1/250 sec, ISO 500
