Here is an image I took in 2022 at Heritage Park. An example of panning. I tried to keep the locomotive steady in the view finder while standing as still as possible slowly pivoting my body. It feels like this train is moving at lightning speed, while in reality it was moving no faster than a speeding donkey cart. 1/2 sec, f/14, ISO 100.

Love this image. Humorous!
My son who is an environmental scientist and avid birder, thinks this is actually a female red winged black bird. Judging by the setting in the rushes, and pattern of streaking on head, I th8nk he is right. Still an amazing picture regardless, and a good chuckle.
Went to the velodrome on 50th Ave SW today. I have titled this “Sense of Speed” . Taken with a 8 stop ND filter at 1/20, f/29, ISO 200.
A different take on the same theme.
Glad you got these scenes Henri. To me they really do represent the speed that can be obtained on the velodrome track. The ND filter does this type of shooting so well.

Great shot Ron. Great subject, showing real urgency and speed. Love the colour contrast between hot red and the cool blue-grey background.

Here’s an image that I took last summer while I was visiting Ottawa. It is at Hogs Back Falls on the Rideau River.

This is one of the most surprising pictures that I have ever taken! We were at the Mahogany Wetlands watching a Muskrat swimming by very fast making trips back and forth, It wasn’t till I got home and enlarged the picture that I saw she was ferrying her kit to the other side of the pond! No wonder she was swimming so fast! Settings: FL 400mm, F8, S 1/400, ISO 1000,Auto WB, Matrix Metering. I cropped the picture, enlarge the animal and increased the sharpness with Sharpen AI.
‘Zooming’ my summer drive in the garage at 1/5 sec., f/13 and ISO 100. I am not really happy with the result as the photo could be better at showing the subject to be a vehicle. Takes some finagling to get the interaction just right between the zooming action and shutter speed. Might have worked out better outside, perhaps.
Had some arguments with myself selecting which of many same category shots I took at one of the Stampedes. Decided on this one. 1/320 sec., at f/5 and ISO 320
Missed the flowers blooming on the coast but caught the dogwood trees in bloom. So beautiful! Taken with my 18-55 mm lens at f/4.5, 1/180 sec, ISO 250
