I have passed by this flowering tree, located on nice island on Elbow Drive for years. This year I found an opportunity to stop and take a picture. This is an iPhone image, up close and wide.

Edited in LR and Photoshop. There were cars on the road that I removed in Photoshop so the tree could stand on its own.

    • Henri says:

Love the colour enhancements on the green and blue. The tree has an interesting shape that fits with the grass island. Beautiful blossoms.

From the Big Rock Singer’s concert in Okotoks May 2025. I was in the audience about five rows back when I took this image. The room was dark and the singers were moving, so a very high ISO was needed to get the fast shutter speed.

Shot at 105mm using 20-105 lens on Canon R5
Denoised and edited in Lightroom. Some distracting elements were removed in Photoshop.

Two older photos: the first, I took at the CP campus, where I removed the background of the building and replaced it with rolling hills.

  10. Dwight Adams says:

This second one is a WTF, Dwight? I’m not sure if I’ve posted this before.
We can talk about what it is.

I was about to deadhead the tulips that were finished when I realized their shapes would make interesting photos.
    ISO 800, focal length ranged from 150-163 mm, mostly f/8, 1/1600 s

More colour. From my recent photography tour of Morocco. Our hotel in ‎⁨Boumalne Dades at dusk⁩. My door opened onto this rooftop pool area so I had to keep my curtains closed.

On Monday May 19th (Victoria Day), we went searching for wildlife and interesting things to photograph south of Calgary. We got a tip from a rancher in the Sheep River Valley of a sighting of a sow and tow cubs.
We were rewarded in mid-afternoon when we came upon the bear and “3” cubs below the road in an open meadow.
    Fuji XT-5: F8/ISO 5000/SS@1/2500.
The encounter came up quickly and to ensure a sharp image from distance pushed shutter speed up and ISO went with it.

  21. Joe Horler says:

Second image captured when they reached more open ground and I was able to zoom in to the full 600mm reach of my lens.
Same setting for shutter, ISO and aperture.

Shot in 2022 on 8th Ave SE outside downtown central library (my back to the library building). There was a celebration happening (do not recall what). F7.1; 1/250 sec.; ISO 500

After years of taking (same) photos of the Stampede Parade year after year I began setting up at the end of the parade. You get some very interesting shots of participants’ reactions. I shot this photo some years ago well after the parade had ended and I was making my way home when I came across this participant on 9th Ave and 4th St SE who appeared to be waiting for her ride. I used the healing brush in LR to remove the steel railing that runs along the sidewalk behind the figure (before AI function was available)
    F/6.3; 1/200; ISO 200
