A picture from T’aanuu Llnagaay (Tanu) on Haida Gwaii. Spent the entire day on a ferry/car/boat tour of old Haida settlements. Fascinating to see the sites and understand how they arranged their lives. Highly recommended.

Detail of a large conifer in the Calgary Zoo. I liked the majestec branches made up of densly growing needles.

I went to Spruce Meadows a couple of weeks ago on free seniors day and tried slow shutter speed shots for something different. This was my favourite.

At Spruce Meadows I found a set of oversized chess pieces languishing in a gazebo where they must have been stored for the winter. These knights seem to be gazing wistfully at the real horse.

Our Friday June 26th drive took us from Longview to Morley (and back to the city). NO big mammals (except grazing cattle). But when we stopped at Loer Kananaskis Lake we watched two loons in the water for 45 minutes. One was more active diving frequently. and splashing about. when we got home and processed our images we could see why — this bird has part of a fishing lure lodged around his beak Very sad.
